 On the Sunday I got over to the ARC studio. Dorrie was working that afternoon. The study above is roughly 2 hours, done with an underlayer of Chinese ink washes, water-soluble graphite pencils, Artgraf washes and some oil-based pencil afterwards. It is on an 18x24" sheet of Strathmore watercolour paper.  The black velvet background again posed a challenge, and I have hung back from making it as dark a value as it looked. It does create a frame-within-the-frame effect, though.

The lower study is roughly 40 minutes, using the same materials.
