2nd entry for Sept 17, 2012

These are some 2-minute and 3-minute studies. Jen's work was good, but I was still a bit worn out from the Queen West Art Crawl on the previous two days.  Rusty, too, after 6 days not drawing.

You can contact thomasdraws@yahoo.ca to arrange the time you're coming. Please pass the word along - we still have some spaces available from 7 PM through to 7 AM.

2nd entry for Sept 3, 2012

These are some 2-minute studies, done with hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.

There won't be any aerial equipment involved, but if you want to get a portrait sketch done at the Toronto School of Art on Nuit Blanche (Sept 29) take note: you can come in for 20 minutes, get your portrait sketched by a group of people, and you'll get to take home your favourite sketch. You can contact thomasdraws@yahoo.ca to arrange the time you're coming. Please pass the word along - we still have some spaces available from 7 PM through to 7 AM.

We're also still looking for a few more sketchers who can come in late in the night - either from 1 AM to 4 AM, or from 4AM to 7AM. It's really good portrait practice, to draw a succession of different people over 3 hours. The person whose sketch gets chosen by a sitter gets a small prize in return - a little bit of cash, some drawing session vouchers, or some other small gift. If you want to take part, contact me at the thomasdraws yahoo address above.

3rd entry for Aug 13, 2012

These are some 3-minute studies, done with hard Nobel charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.

I really enjoy these aerial/circus drawing sessions.  They exercise all the skill set of life drawing, and at speed.
This fall I'm teaching a 12-week course in introductory life drawing on Saturday mornings at the Toronto School of Art beginning Sept. 22.  I also teach a 12-week intermediate/advanced life drawing class at the TSA on Wednesday evenings. Class sizes are capped small, but there's still room room for students in each.
You can also learn more about the TSA here.

2nd entry for Aug 13, 2012

These are some 2-minute studies. Jasmine had some interesting footwear I hadn't seen before called `jazz boots'. With a split sole, they looked like a cross between ballet slippers and old-style wrestling-type boots.
