Entry for July 23, 2015

On the Thursday night, Tanya was at the TSA. This is a 2.5 hour study, done with India ink and oil-based pencil on an 18 x 24" sheet of Revere rag paper. The combination of fluid and dry media seems to work well for me, especially on a finer-toothed surface.

Anatomy and Figure Drawing: August 17 - 21, I will be teaching a 5-day intensive course on basic anatomy for life drawing. It runs 10 a.m to 5 p.m. daily, and combines lots of information in handouts and demos, with plenty of drawing practice time with excellent models.
You can register here; enter the promo code SUMMER40 and get a further $40 off the course price, but decide before August 4th, to ensure the course will run!

2nd entry for July 16, 2015

These are some 5-minute studies, also Pitt calligraphy point pen on 18 x 18" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.
It took until the last two to begin to get into a decent drawing groove that evening.
On this blog I exclude any studies that I find really weak, but I do include a number that I feel are not fully successful. I feel it may be of interest to see the context of broader production, that things don't automatically flow effortlessly.
If you'd prefer to have a highlights view of just the stronger work, I keep a Tumblr blog, From The Stream, that is what I feel are more standout work out of what I have drawn.

Above are three 10-minute studies, and below are a couple of 15-minute ones. Amanda's partner Rob joined in for some unexpected duo posing, which was a pleasant surprise.
These are all Pitt pen on 18 x 18" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.

1st entry for July 15, 2015

Amanda was at the Gladstone Hotel session on the Wednesday night. These are some 1-minute and some 3-minute studies, and possibly a 5-minute one at the bottom.
They are all Pitt pen on 18 x 18" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper. In classes, it's the time of he term I focus on contour drawing, and that tends to make my drawing a little more sensitive on edges too.
