4th Entry for December 14, 2008

These last images were 15 and 20-minute studies. It was a good night for me in terms of conveying the anatomical structure & strength of B- . Perhaps having been unable to take any time to sketch over the week led to a greater enthusiasm when I did get the chance.

Some nights go better than others. Overall, though, I feel that the depth of response in these short studies has grown over the 2.5 years I've been blogging. Check the early work on the Yahoo 360 blog, and see if you agree.

(All of these are done on 24 x 36 sheets of conte crayon)

3rd Entry for November 23rd, 2008

These were 10-minute poses. L- 's curly semi-Mohawk haircut was challenging to set down at all quickly. The night was one where my drawing was working out fairly well. Some nights, it just flows. Others, it is a like a street-by-street battle to put the marks in the places where I want them. With L- , one could work out skeletal structure fairly well, and I was able to get quite a lot of anatomical information suggested in her back. Mostly, I let the shadows tell the story in that regard.
