2nd entry for February 23, 2010

These were 2-minute and 3-minute poses. It was interesting how S- used the equipment available. People with more aerial acrobatics training tend to hang with their bodies in more-or less a vertical relationship to the points of support above. Some have used the lengths of fabric as supplemental drapery in addition to support.
S- was using the equipment in many cases to be a secure support of diagonal resistance, allowing her to extend out diagonally into space for longer time periods. That allowed for some drawing challenges, and was a step apart from the poses she would normally take, where ground is the sole support.

2nd entry for March 19, 2009

These were some more 1-minute poses. At this point - some 15 poses into the night - I was beginning to get settled into a drawing groove. J- was playing a lot with using the knotted silks as support points to hang from or balance off of.

3rd Entry for January 29, 2009

These were all 2- and 3-minute poses that A- took. with that length of time it is possible to add a little bit of explanatory shading, and more detail about the straps she was using to stay aloft.

In the last pose in this set of studies, there is a second silk strap that her arm is resting on, running under her shoulders. I neglected to add the line in the study while setting it down. Not having it there makes the pose look even more like a balancing act on a swing, and underscores what a role the points of support - above or below - play in conveying how someone maintains whatever position they are in.
