5th Entry for Aug 11, 2011

I was experimenting with more fragmentary close-focus studies for the longer poses at the end of the evening. These are two 15-minute studies above, and two 20-minute ones below.
They are also done with hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of cartridge paper,

4th Entry for Aug 11, 2011

After a long break, these are some more 1-minute studies, done with hard compressed charcoal on Bond paper.

3rd Entry for Aug 11, 2011

These are 10-minute studies, also using hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of cartridge paper

2nd Entry for Aug 11, 2011

These are two 5-minute studies above and a 10-minute one below.  These are hard compressed charcoal on some 18 x 24"sheets of Bond paper. I liked the extra-smooth texture, but the paper isn't very good at all.

1st entry for Aug 11, 2011

On the Thursday I got out to the TSA to draw.   D-  was working, and these are 1-minute studies, done with hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of cartridge paper.

7th Entry for Aug 8, 2011

People drawing and posing were still energized, so the session ran overtime, which I was game for. The ecorche head study of K was 10 or 15 minutes. The pose with G-  and J-  , where J-  wore K-'s face cast was 10 minutes, as was the L -   and J-  double pose.
K-s sitting pose finished the evening, and ran for 10 minutes or so. It was disconcerting, as K-  was wearing a latex cast of her own face, with make-up on it. It fit perfectly, but had a synthetic "uncanny valley" effect set against her bright red ecorche body makeup.
When she she wrapped up that, the session ended by general acclaim.

As drawing sessions go, this one struck a few chords for me. Anatomy and droopy peeled facial `skins' are subjects I've explored in drawings of my own in the past. Plus horror/fantasy themes are an area I enjoy, so I was having a particularly good time that night.

You can see some  photographic documentation of this session here.

6th Entry for Aug 8, 2011

The pieta tableau above and a fragment out of a larger `group portrait' pose (which had an Addams-esque element to it) finished the formal part of the evening. These were both in the 10-minute range.
