If there is anyone wanting to learn about life drawing, or many other areas of the visual arts, 12-week fall classes are starting this week at the Toronto School of Art. I teach life drawing and portraiture there, on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. You can find out about all the TSA course offerings here.

Also, I won't be showing figure studies, but I have drawings on display this weekend - Sept 18 & 19th - at the Queen West Art Crawl.

On Sunday morning I headed over to the TSA. K- was working, and she was someone I had not drawn before.
These are some 5-minute and 10-minute studies.

These were 15-minute poses that A- took. I utilise light and shadow a lot to convey form, but for the last one I tried to work just with line.

These are a 10-minute study above, and a 15-minute one below. This was right after a week-long anatomy workshop, so I was extra-aware of muscle & bone forms beneath the surface.

Friday night, once my intensive was wrapped up I came back to do some more drawing for myself. A - was working, and these are a 2-minute study and some 10-minute ones.

These two 20-minute poses finished the evening. On the last one (below), I was tiring out - it had been a long day. Overall, it was an enjoyable drawing session.
