1st entry for April 3, 2015

The 3rd was the first Friday of April. In spite of falling on Good Friday, the monthly Dr. Sketchy's session took place at Round Venue in Kensington. The model for this month was burlesque performer Tiny B Hiney, who was working on a Roaring 20's flapper sort of flavour.
The Sketchy's sessions continue to be a good challenge, trying to shoehorn costume and character into really short timespans. These are three sheets of 1-minute studies, and three at 2 minutes. As usual, the first few studies are the time to get into my drawing groove, and quality of line, form and likeness swerves around. These days I don't worry about that at all, as that just gets in the way. Some slip into focus, but the exercise and limbering up is the most important thing.
These are all on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper, done with a Sakura Graphic 2 pigment pen.
