2nd Entry for June 19, 2011

(Those of you who like my figure drawings can come say hello and see a number of them in person at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. It takes place July 8th through 10th at Nathan Philips Square in Toronto. I'll be in the Yellow section, Booth 12, showing some of the last year's studies on Japanese paper. To get an idea of what will be there, check the tag `washi' here on the blog's sidebar.  For more details on the show, and a map of the square, click here. )

These 5 studies are each roughly 25 minutes, except for the head study, which was roughly 15 minutes. The are all derived from a 3-hour sitting that A-   was doing on the Sunday afternoon at the TSA. In the topmost one, stopping the drawing along the jawline but including an ear and a bit of hair makes the image a bit disquieting for me, as if her face had been blanked out, rather than the image trailing away.

All of these are also hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of cartridge paper.
