Entry for April 24, 2015
On the Friday I came in for the last part of the TSA's evening session. Tahnee was working. These are three 15-minute studies and a 20-minute one. The top one is Pitt pen and ink washes in waterbrushes on an 18 x 24" sheet of Canson Recycled Sketch paper. The other three are Pitt pen and a Derwent Inkense "India Ink" colour watersoluble pencil for the washes. There are some good things about the Inktense, but it was too slow for building up washes that night.
All of the lower three are on 18 x 24" sheets of canson XL Series watercolour paper.

Entry for April 20, 2015
After a busy teaching day and some time spent wrapping up the dance-project pieces I've been making, I had a little bit of drawing time at the TSA. Denise was working. Above are three 1-minute studies, Pitt pen on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.
Below are two 15-minute studies and a 30-minute one. These are all Pitt pen, graphite and chinese ink washes. The paper was some older Nutex-like stuff that I had on hand.

Entry for April 19, 2015
I went over to the ARC studio on the Sunday. July was working, and this is a 2.25 hour study. Materials are graphite, ink washes and some Pitt oil-based pencil for detail shading, on an 18 x 24" sheet of Strathmore watercolour paper.
In lieu of one `magic bullet' material that makes everything work, I'm finding that different materials can lend themselves to different parts of doing a drawing.
The fine mechanical pencil line is good for the initial laying-up of proportion/perspective on a smaller paper size; washes establish broad value zones and the more coloured-pencil texture of the oil pencils allows for specificity within values.
My drawing is still rusty, and the composition here is a little too static:a small centered cluster of body shapes and a lot of white space, with an awkward balance of the ladder isn't working so well as a picture, at least yet. Cropping may be the answer here, and developing a little more in the way of background texture and value.

1st entry for April 8, 2015
On the Wednesday night I went out to the Art Bar session at the Gladstone Hotel. Ginamaria was working that night. These are a couple of sheets of 1-minute and 3-minute studies, and a couple of 5-minute ones on the lowest sheet.
All are Pitt pens on 18 x 18" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper. The last one has some washes of India ink added during the break.
There were a couple of good moments of drawing, but the heavy work load I had meant that I've been getting rusty.
