These are four 5-minute studies and a 10-minute study, done with Pitt pen on 18 x 24" sheets  of Strathmore series 200 paper and Canson Recycled Sketch paper. It took a little bit to find my groove that morning,but it is always a pleasure to be drawing Murray.

I went to the Heliconian Club's monday morning session, and found Murray working there. These are 2-minute studies, done with Pitt pen on various 18 x 24 cartridge type papers I had at hand.

On the Friday I was wanting to put in some sketching time. I made an unsuccessful foray to the ARC studio (note to self: for spaces that post a weekly schedule, check which sessions are actually on before going...) It was too late for the TSA session, so I headed over to Artists 25, where Polynawas working that night.  These are both water-soluble graphite and Artgraf washes on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Montval paper. The top one is roughly 75 minutes, and the lower one 20 minutes plus some post-session graphite additions.

On the Friday I had a day off of teaching and was able to get in some drawing time. I went over for the afternoon to the Arts and Letters club, for the two-hour second half of their Friday costume drawing session. Chris was working, and these are an 80-minute study above and a 20-minute one below.
Both are water-soluble graphite pencils and Artgraf washes on 18 x 24" Canson Montval watercolour paper. the top one has had additional working with regular graphite afterwards.

On the Monday some studio business kept me at home for the morning, but I went in for the 1 - 3 afternoon session at the Heliconian Club.  Maria was there working. These are a 75-minute study with some later additional shading above, and a 20-minute one down below.
I like aspects of the more tonal space and the more stark space. Something between these might be interesting - as might be a diptych.
Maria's face did not come off so well though,nor did the hand on the left.  I realize I need to revisit some of the verticals in the room, too.

These are three 15-minute studies and a 10-minute one at the bottom.
The top three are water-soluble graphite on Canson Montval watercolour paper, and the lowest one is Pitt pen on Strathmore Series 300 paper.
I feel it was only at the end of the evening that I was getting on track. There are bits of okay work in these, but overall it was not a strong night. Some nights are like that. I always enjoy being in the process, but I do notice in myself how not being as regularly immersed impacts on how loose, confident and sure I can be.

On the Friday night I got out to the TSA, and Danielle was working that night. These are a 3-minute study and four 10-minute ones, all Pitt pen on 18 x 24" sheets of paper; Canson Recycled Sketch for the top two and Strathmore Series 200 for the lower three.
My pens were a bit dry, and the Strathmore I found a less receptive surface, so the drawing was a bit more of a wrestle than sometimes, and I was not finding my working groove easily that night.
Not that some wrestling to wed line with paper is a bad thing, per se - it does add to the focus challenge of the drawing.
