On the Sunday afternoon I was out at the Jam Factory Collective's afternoon session upstairs at 2 Mathilda Street. Maria was working, and the the top study was a Chinese ink wash initial stage that I was intending to work over with dry media. An unexpected change in poses meant it stays as a good document of the underdrawing I have been using on a lot of longer studies lately: fairly loose to establish base values and light areas, and then some sort of pencil would go on top to add focus, crispness and more tonal graduations.
The lower one is a 40-minute study, done with the same ink as the sole intended material. Both are on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson XL Series watercolour paper.
