2nd entry for July 2, 2013

These are two 5-minute studies above and three 10-minute ones below. Copic warm gray markers and a Pitt Medium black liner pen. The top one is on 18 x 24" bond paper, and the ones below are on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.
The Art Bar session has been going a long time, and it is a raucous noisy soup of a place to work. A band was playing loud funky hipster songs next door while the sessions host was trying to play old Jazz cassettes on a tinny boom box like some kind of afterthought. I found the crosstalk of the two musics to be hard to maintain focus with, especially in an unfamiliar place. The jazz was like an exhortation, though, to be loose and take chances and work spontaneously on the edge, but I was finding that hard to do.
The space is crowded, but the people are pleasant and friendly there, and it is a rollicking place in its way.
