Entry for Aug 17, 2012

On the Friday night I tried an experiment during the 4-hour long-pose session at the TSA. L-  was working that night. I initially drew the whole scene using a medium grey pastel pencil, then took that out back, applied a layer of fixative and left that to dry for 1/2 hour. While that was on I did the more direct study of the same pose below. For the last 30 minutes I retrieved the initial drawing and drew into it with a hard compressed charcoal, creating a kind of duotone effect.
Working this way allows for quite a bit of contrast control.
