1st entry for May 29. 2012

On the Tuesday night I went to the first of a series of summer drawing sessions at OCAD U, run by S-   . He was also the model for that night.  It's a longer session, running for 4 hours, with half given over to lots of short poses, and the other half to a few very long poses.  The intent is to be a bit looser and more playful than some drawing sessions.  It runs 6-10, in room 617 through the summer months and is open to anyone to join in.  The fee is $10 for students, $15 for non-students,

S- was doing lots of dynamic gesture poses to start. These are all 1-minute studies, done with hard compressed charcoal on 18 x 24" sheets of bond paper with hard compressed charcoal.

(Gesture drawing is one of the approaches to drawing people that I view as a really important foundation of life drawing. It is a part of the 8-week summer course in figure drawing that I'll be teaching at the TSA in July and August on Tuesday nights. You can get more details about that here.)
