9th Entry for January 11, 2009






These were some 10- and 15-minute poses. The standing pose with the pole is on the line for me as far as being worth sharing; I spent too much time trying to get the sense of H- 's head that the rest of the figure was rushed, and the drawing doesn't have a sense of easy flow. The pose is striking, nonetheless. It is not a very good likeness at all. It was followed by the pose seen from the back, propped on both arms.
That one worked out as well as the other one didn't.

When heads work for me, they can work out very well, but they can crash in flames for me more frequently than any other part of a person.

A few of the longer studies worked well as far as getting a sense of the sheen & fall of H- 's hair.
