Entry for Jan 3, 2012

On the Tuesday evening, H-   was at Artists 25. These are two 10-minute studies above, and two 20-minute ones below.
They are all done with hard compressed Nobel charcoal. All are on 90 lb Maisdtone paper; the top two are on sheets cut down to 18 x 24", and the lower two are on 22 x 30" sheets.
It wasn't one of my stronger nights - I was wrestling with scale and materials, but there were alright moments.

1st entry for Jan 1, 2012

On the Sunday, the new year began.  A-  was over at the TSA that evening. These are 1-minute studies, done with hard compressed U-Art charcoal on 18 x 24" Canson Sketch paper.

The beginning of the new year is a good point for some stats on the previous year. In 2011, there were some 2155 distinct visitors to this blog. Together they made  19,129 pageviews over the course of 6927 visits.

3rd Entry for Dec. 30, 2011 (last study of 2011)

On that evening I was eager to keep testing out the Maidstone paper, so I hopped into the last 25 minutes of the next-door long pose,  where it was S-     working.
This is also hard compressed Nobel charcoal on a 22 x 30" sheet. Owing to the volume of shadow, I stayed on for a further 10 minutes to add fabric shadows once S-   had left.

This was the last study I did in 2011. It was a good year for materials exploration, and a busy one for blog postings. By my count,  I've posted 1673 studies over the course of the year.  After another couple of hundred images,  I'll be up to 5000 on this blog.  Which, I figure, will mark some kind of a priority shift for me. But that's still to come.
