On the Friday night I got out to the Dr. Sketchy's session at Round Venue. Performance artist Obskyura was working that night, with a fame/celebrity starter ensemble. These are a 5-minute study above,  a 5-minute line drawing and some 1-minute and 2-minute studies below.

(Among her props were a gold microphone and a hot-pink assault rifle with white stars.)

 These are all on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper. I tried using a `woodless' 4B water-soluble graphite pencil for these rather than a pen. I found the marks a little thick for my taste and the pencil went blunt fast, but they do read fairly nicely reproduced small-scale.

In the evening, I went to a drawing session at someone's home. A couple, David and Winston were modelling together that night, and they had a really nice warmth and intimacy together. I really enjoy the dynamic of a couple who are at ease with each other.

These are done with Pitt Pen on 18 x 24" sheets of Strathmore Drawing and Series 400 papers.

These are a 10-minute and two 15-minute line drawings at top, done with Pitt pen on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.
The second from the bottom is water-soluble graphite and Artgraf washes on an 18 x 24" sheet of Canson Montval watercolour paper. The value range and handling is starting to remind me here of some of the conte on newsprint studies that I was doing in the first couple of years that this blog has been running. (But now with more solid and substantially longer-lasting materials)

I stayed on for the afternoon 2-hour pose, which generated the bottom image. Karen sitting was a fairly static and generic-looking situation, so I decided to try a close-cropped composition, and focus a bit more on the character of her particular skin texture.
It is also water-soluble graphite and Artgraf washes on an 18 x 24" sheet of Canson Montval paper.

On the Monday I was at the Heliconian Club for their morning drawing session. Karen was working, and these are two two-minute and three 5-minute studies, all with Pitt peen on 18 x 24" sheets of Canson Recycled Sketch paper.

2nd entry for Oct 28, 2014

These are a 10-minute pose at top, a couple of not-quite 10-minute ones and a 15-minute one partially dressed that wrapped the evening.
The session was maybe a little too loose in organization, and Lara was figuring out what to do on the fly.  I was reticent to give instructions, as I didn't want to get all usurpy on the person in charge, and I am personally curious as to what a less experienced model will choose to do, as they haven't settled into any sort of repetoire.
It wasn't one of my stronger drawing nights either, but I did get a free jello shot courtesy of the bar, who sent a bunch back for the drawers, as an apology for opening late.
I believe this was the last of the Cafe May drawing sessions, which have since been discontinued.

On the Tuesday night I tried out an unfamiliar session in the back room at Cafe May on Dundas West. Lara was the model that night, and it was a new experience for her. These are some 2-minute studies above and a 10-minute one at the bottom.

 These are a pair of 15-minute studies and a 25-minute one that ended the morning. I felt the drawing was fairly up and down, in terms of quality.
